Daniel Radcliffe Blasts His Own Harry Potter Acting: ‘I’m Just Not Very Good’
Good thing he doesn’t have anything to say about The Sorcerer's Stone.
Summary:
- The first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was released in 2001.
- Daniel Radcliffe joined the cast at the age of 12 and portrayed Gryffindor's MVP until the release of the final film in 2011.
- Although he was very young, Radcliffe is now critical of his acting work in the Harry Potter franchise.
For many of us, Harry Potter is a story that provides a magical escape from the reality of adulthood into our own childhood fantasies. Growing up with J.K. Rowling's books and the subsequent films, many millennials still haven't outgrown their Harry Potter obsession and aren't likely to anytime soon.
But while we have been enjoying all that this universe has to offer in the form of entertainment, other people have been working hard to make it a reality. These include Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who all joined the production at a very young age and had to grow up in front of the cameras.
What Is Daniel Radcliffe’s Favorite Harry Potter Movie?
If there's one thing that might surprise even the most die-hard Harry Potter fans, it's that the main star of the franchise isn't too happy with his own performance. Daniel Radcliffe holds himself to a very high standard, and his acting in one of the movies just doesn't meet all the criteria:
“And that’s why it’s hard to watch a film like Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince because I’m just not very good in it. I hate it. My acting is very one-note and I can see I got complacent and what I was trying to do just didn’t come across. My best film is the fifth one (Order Of The Phoenix) because I can see a progression,” Radcliffe said.
Luckily for audiences, no one really notices the actor's performance flaws because all of the Harry Potter movies hold such a special place in the hearts of audiences.
However, Daniel Radcliffe isn't the only Harry Potter alum to admit his flaws. His co-star Emma Watson also revealed her acting insecurities, but it had to do with a different project, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. This level of attention to detail just goes to show how much respect the stars have for what they do.
If you want to re-watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to form your own impression of Daniel Radcliffe's acting, or just to indulge in the nostalgia of a childhood story, you can stream the movie on Netflix or Max.
