'Cursed Child' Might Save 'Harry Potter' Franchise, But Fans Hate The Idea
Warner Bros. biggest wizard property is going through tough times: the latest 'Fantastic Beasts' movie failed to perform well at the box office.
A professional analyst has come up with the perfect solution to save 'Harry Potter ', but it may turn its fans away from future movies.
Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock told TheWrap that the only way to put the J.K. Rowling universe back on track to success is to adapt her play 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' for the big screen.
Premiering in London in 2016, the continuation of 'Potteriana' (centered around a trio of wizards and their children, set many years after the original story) received critical and financial acclaim, but the possibility of turning the play into a movie did not appeal to fans for a variety of reasons.
Some fans believe that 'Cursed Child' will only work on stage, and the special magic inherent only in live performances will be lost on screen.
While others still disapprove of the play itself, seeing it as Rowling's cash grab.
Some think of 'Harry Potter' actors, perhaps unwilling to return to their roles.
While the future of the franchise is shrouded in mystery, you can still watch 'Fantastic Beasts 3' in theaters nationwide.
