With lots of blood and murders, there's always room for some creepy scenes.

Summary:

  • The Sopranos is one of the most iconic mob series ever created.
  • Despite the overall gripping atmosphere, the show still has cringe-worthy scenes.
  • The one where Artie tries to hit on Adriana is so icky that a huge part of the fandom prefers to skip it when rewatching the show

The Sopranos is one of the most popular shows ever created. The gripping mob story with the most dysfunctional family ever at the center has become legendary mostly because of its characters.

The focus of almost every storyline is on Tony Soprano, of course, as he is the most important person out there. However some other characters are also under the spotlight: Chrissy. Adriana, all the gang members, the rest of the Soprano family, and Artie with his wife Charmaine.

Despite the fact that the story is mostly dark and terrifying, there are many storylines that in many ways seem out of sync with the main narrative. But even the most cringeworthy scenes are pretty unsettling and disturbing, not laughable as one would expect it.

For many fans of the show, one of the most disturbing scenes is when Artie loses it and flirts with Adriana. The scene reeks of a desperate and lonely man, and it is painful to watch.

In season 3 episode 5, as a friendly gesture after Adriana decided to quit the restaurant, he invites her to dinner and tries to hit on her. The young woman thought she was going to have dinner with a former employer, but instead ended up having an awkward evening with a man who was trying to hold her hand.

The scene was so out of place that some fans thought the main reason the writers decided to do it was to make the fans feel how creepy it would have been in reality.

“I thought it was an awesome bit of acting. Artie is an unhappy man. Financially strung out. Probably sexless marriage. He is a coward. Probably just very unhappy too. Like a lot of these lonely guy's Adriana made him feel happy. Was probably just nice to him to be nice. Artie mistook that for something else,” Redditor __TIE_Guy said.

The scene was so creepy it turned into the one everyone skips while their annual The Sopranos rewatches.

If you feel like giving it another chance, though, try streaming The Sopranos on Prime.
