Cringe Core Memory: Early Supernatural Promo Posters Are Pure Embarrassment
It's not like Supernatural is the least cringe-worthy show on the planet, but seriously, what was up with those posters?
The story of two monster-hunting brothers, Sam and Dean Winchesters, is easily one of the most iconic shows The CW has ever brought to our lives.
And while some of the show's visuals were pure art and are still treasured by fans, other promotional materials are being enshrined in the Cringe Hall of Fame.
For example, Twitter user awscue has collected a lengthy thread of Supernatural promo posters that could never age well. In fact, we doubt they did well at the time of their release.
Seriously, we have seen fan art that looked much better than whatever this was.
Some Supernatural gag reels were more serious than actual, non-ironic promo art.
A promo poster for a mysterious and edgy supernatural show? More like a meme template.
Even now-iconic posters look cringe-worthy if you just let them sink in.
Of course, Supernatural is the kind of show that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. First of all, you need that salt to ward off monsters.
Second, sometimes the show was just silly for silly's sake.
However, the level of weirdness in some of the promotional material has definitely not aged well — even though the OG fans are always there to turn it into a nostalgia fest.
After all, those were the days when the posters may have been bad, but the story was compelling and exciting.
Today, we have a Supernatural multiverse and a prequel that looks like a sequel. Pick your fighter, we guess.
