Why do we even love Amazon's The Boys? The show seems to poke fun at stereotypical caped superheroes and instead spotlight some edgy rogues with tough backstories and dark humor.
Well, now that we all have a giant The Boys-shaped hole in our hearts, let's dive into what else Prime Video has in store for us underdog lovers.
Suprisingly, the show that might help you wait for The Boys season 4 is... an animated series called The Legend of Vox Machina.
This isn't your average kids' cartoon; in fact, you might want to make sure kids never see it, as it's heavily R-rated. Now that we have your attention...
Set in the brutal fantasy world of Tal'Dorei, the series revolves around a team of mercenaries who are not having the best of times.
Barely making ends meet, they wander the taverns looking for work (even if it looks like they are just getting drunk and fighting random people).
But somehow they end up... on a government mission to hunt down a mysterious monster that is burning down the local villages.
Well, the monster turns out to be a giant dragon, and our "heroes" are not exactly professional dragon slayers or noble knights willing to die trying.
Over the course of two seasons, we get to know the team (yes, they are called Vox Machina) and realize that they may be a little more heroic than we (and they) realized.
All of this is sprinkled with some gore, dark humor, the occasional romance (they have a dwarf heartthrob who sings!), and a compelling story with plenty of room for character development.
The show is loved by fans and critics alike, with season 2 holding a 100% critic score and 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Prime Video has renewed The Legend of Vox Machina for the third season, but it doesn't have a release date yet. Oh, and if you finish watching it before the fourth season of The Boys hits screens... well, sorry not sorry.
The Boys is expected to return with season 4 at some point in fall or winter 2023.
