Criminal Minds is returning to Paramount+ with a 10-episode season, to the delight of the show's many fans. The first two episodes will premiere on November 24 and the viewers are ready to ditch their families for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving to watch one of their favorite shows.
As the premiere date gets closer, the suspense grows. One of the main themes for discussion seems to be the absence of beloved Spencer Reid played by Matthew Gray Gubler who was not included in the main cast of the new season for some mysterious reasons. Genius doctor Reid is the favorite character for millions of fans, and his absence might hurt the viewership of the revival. The character played a major role in the show from day one till the very end. Reid was with us for 16 years and 324 episodes, which makes many fans think Criminal Minds will not be the same without him.

The poster shows a dark male silhouette with curly hairstyle and facial hair, which many viewers took for Spencer Reid, famous for his great long hair.
The comments section for the poster went crazy with fans hoping for the long-awaited return. But fans were disappointed to find out that the silhouette was in fact of actor Zach Gilford who plays the main antagonist of season 16, Elias Voit. Just like Moriarty, Elias Voit created a network of serial killers, which the BAU team must take down one by one.
The presence of Zach Gilford brought some color to the show for fans who are missing Spencer Reid. Many made up their mind to watch the reboot thanks to this casting decision. Nevertheless, fans still hope that Matthew Gray Gubler will somehow be able to make an appearance in the new season of Criminal Minds. After all, the actor has always been faithful to the role and even hinted that the character might return someday. Besides, the arc of Spencer Reid didn't end with the final episode of season 15, the genius doctor still has a lot to show his fans.
