Evolution showrunner Erica Messer promises to delve into the Garcia-Alvez-Green relationship next season.

Season 1 of Criminal Minds: Evolution has been a wild ride for fans of the original show, especially those rooting for the romantic relationship between Penelope Garcia and Luke Alvez, aka Galvez. What seemed like a promising development in the finale of the CBS procedural turned out to be a disappointment in Evolution.

Many Galvez shippers were frustrated to find out that the Galvez date set up in season 15 of Criminal Minds turned out to be a disaster. According to a flashback, Penelope and Luke realized they were too uncomfortable with the idea of romance and decided to stay friends.

On top of that, the show introduced a new love interest for Garcia in the form of vigilante Tyler Green.

And even though the relationship with Green would (and did) jeopardize the ongoing investigation, Penelope jumped into it without much thought. In the season finale, however, the genius tech analyst realized how impulsive her decisions regarding Tyler had been and broke up with him.

Even though the Penelope/Tyler arc seems to be over, showrunner Erica Messer says that she wouldn't be so sure about it. In her interview with Variety, the creator said that we will definitely see Tyler Green in Season 2.

"Maybe it isn't over. Maybe this is her person. We want to keep exploring that, so it's gonna get a little more complicated next year," Messer said.

Expanding on the complications, she promised that Galvez fans will finally get some action as Luke realizes that his feelings for Penelope are not exactly brotherly. When Alvez, who didn't like Tyler in the first place, found out about Penelope's new relationship, he had a very non-brotherly reaction, as if asking, "Why him? Such a state of affairs will help the writers play with the love triangle in Season 2.

"There can be a little bit more of a triangle than we've ever really done on the show, in terms of the members being in relationships. It felt like now's the time to do it," the showrunner explained.

Well, it looks like viewers are in for a very intriguing storyline next season, a juicy love triangle that will definitely keep a lot of fans glued to their screens. The only hope is that the creators don't overdo it in their quest for ratings.
