Angela’s always been a bit on the crazy side, but this theory proves she might’ve crossed a line.

Summary:

  • Angela Martin is one of those still-waters-run-deep characters on The Office.
  • On the outside, we see a quiet religious woman; on the inside, she’s pure hell on Earth.
  • Fans came up with an Angela theory that might blow your mind.

The Office was a pretty run-of-the-mill sitcom that gained a large fanbase all around the world. Naturally, fans came up with multiple theories to justify some plotlines (and sometimes plot holes). We all remember the Toby-Is-The Scranton-Strangler theory that was right on the nose, and it is crazy if you think about it.

But what do you say if we tell you there are more killers on that show—probably or probably not intended to be perceived as such by the creators?

From the first episodes of The Office, we know that Angela Martin seemed pretty innocent, if not petty, zealously religious, and conservative—an explosive combination for pretty dark stuff, as we later established in the series: she cheated, slept with multiple guys at the same time (while shaming Pam for having boyfriends), and she was not afraid to bully people (Phyllis) or use violence if needed (ordering a hit on Oscar), not to mention living a sin (lying to her husband about who’s the real father of his son is).

Angela broke up with Dwight when he killed her cat, Sprinkles. Losing a pet is understandably devastating, especially if you know that it died a horrible death, just like Sprinkles did.

She never quite forgave Dwight, at least not until she started sleeping with him again behind Andy’s back—and even then it was more of a love-hate relationship than anything else. After everything we’ve said about Angela, is it any wonder she would’ve tried to pull one over Dwight?

In Season 9, Dwight asked Angela to help him take care of his Aunt Shirley, in parallel to when Angela asked Dwight to take care of her sick cat. But this was a job that Angela did flawlessly, earning the respect she deserved from the cranky woman and Dwight himself. Little did he know though that Angela would think to exact her revenge on him at that moment.

Fans believe that Angela killed Aunt Shirley in retaliation for her cat’s death at the hands of Dwight. Cause of death? Probably poison; Angela did have access to a lot of cat medication, maybe some of it went to Aunt Shirley.

Besides, Dwight once helpfully said that Aunt Shirley tried to poison help a couple of times; maybe this was some sort of poetic justice, coming to haunt her at the end of her life.

Angela was no innocent lady. Could she have done that? Based on the show we watched, we believe she could—she had the means and the ends, after all.
