However, some fans argue that this narrative is too linear, even lackluster. They propose that the Mind Flayer, an ancient entity that presides over an entire dimension and a hivemind of peculiar, formidable creatures, is a far more intimidating and captivating villain than Vecna.

Drawing inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons lore, where the Mind Flayer is renowned for its cunning and treachery, fans theorize that the Mind Flayer is actually duping Vecna.

The hypothesis suggests that the Mind Flayer is leading Vecna to believe he's the one in charge, when in reality, it's the Mind Flayer orchestrating the events.

The theory further speculates that Henry Creel, a character from the series, was endowed with a fragment of the Mind Flayer's power when he was a child. This power seeped into his mind, prompting him to foresee a future where he would morph the Mind Flayer into an arachnid-like entity.
