Craziest Theory That Links Harry Potter to Narnia Is… Rooted in Facts

There is a popular fan theory that ties two great franchises together – J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia. The gist of it is that the four Pevensie siblings are, in fact, the Hogwarts founders.

The theory makes so much sense when you think about it. Both worlds rely heavily on magic and basically exist parallel to our world. The Pevensie kids seem to be too similar in personality to the founders. Even their signature colors from the movies could be traced back to the Hogwarts Houses’ colors.

Peter Pevensie (Godric Gryffindor)

Peter the Magnificent is Godric Gryffindor for sure. The eldest Pevensie brother is brave and dutiful, but sometimes hotheaded in his decisions. He is also a killer duelist. Remind you of anyone? Godric’s House is essentially for the bravest of hearts, and the founder himself is canonically known as “the best duelist of his time.”

Susan Pevensie (Rowena Ravenclaw)

Susan the Gentle is similar to Rowena Ravenclaw. Susan is more logical than the rest of her siblings, and her intelligence has saved them many times. She is always eager to learn. Rowena’s House is associated with all of these things. Both Susan and Rowena’s stories are also tainted with betrayals, though of different kinds.

Edmund Pevensie (Salazar Slytherin)

Salazar Slytherin can easily be Edmund the Just. Edmund is the most mischievous of the four, and he can be brutal when he wants to be. Plus, he once lost his way and betrayed his siblings. Although he is later redeemed, what is to stop him from turning his back on his siblings again as Salazar? Both have their own ideas of justice, which differ from the others’ beliefs.

Lucy Pevensie (Helga Hufflepuff)

Lucy the Valiant is definitely Helga Hufflepuff. Lucy is loyal, kind, and accepting. It only makes sense that she (as Helga) would approach the sorting of the students into her House with the same attitude. Hufflepuff welcomes all who want to be there, and we just know that Lucy would be all for it.

The similarities are pretty obvious, but have they ever been officially confirmed by Rowling? Although the Harry Potter author has never stated that the founders of Hogwarts stem from the Pevensie siblings, she has mentioned that Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia saga was a major influence on her style and writing in general when she was growing up. It’s canon, we don’t care.
