Let’s hope for 2025.

The news that Community the movie is in development hit fans of the iconic sitcom like a storm, but little did they know that the wait was just beginning. Even though each and every member of the cast is happy to be back in their roles and Dan Harmon's script has been polished to perfection, filming has still not begun.

Many fans suspected that the reason for the delay was none other than Donald Glover, who has built an extremely successful career in both television and music and is now juggling several projects at once. But this is not the case.

When Will Community the Movie Come Out?

Ever since the sitcom's six-seasons-and-a-movie running gag went viral, fans have been secretly hoping it would come true. Now that everyone is aware of the production's plans, they're counting down the days until the movie hits the big screen. The problem is that no one can give a clear update on the timeline.

Speaking to GQ, Joel McHale admits that everyone was hoping to start filming sometime in 2024 and wrap it up that same year. However, the deeper we get into the year, the less likely that will happen. So the premiere date has to be moved up as well, which makes it impossible to guess.

One thing McHale wanted people to know for sure is that the delays have nothing to do with Donald Glover and his schedule, although he must be very busy. While there are a lot of rumors about this, the actor stepped forward to debunk them all and take all the blame himself.

“If it's anybody's fault, it's my schedule on this one. It's not his at all. He was available. No, no, no, no. <...> That was definitely not true. It was not Donald's schedule. We love Donald. You can fully blame my schedule,” he said.

Rather than blaming anyone's schedule, it would be wiser for fans to just relax and wait a little longer. The most important thing is that the script is already done, the studio is in agreement with the production budget, and every familiar face you want to see in the movie will be back.

Right now the goal is to have it all done by 2025, but we will have to wait and see how that turns out. Until then, you can easily satisfy all your Community cravings by streaming the show on Peacock.
