Chuck Lorre Gives a Concerning Update on The Big Bang Theory Spinoff
Young Sheldon’s potential spinoffs may get way faster in the franchise’s race.
The Big Bang Theory ’s creators may be keeping themselves busy with exploring more of Young Sheldon ’s compelling storylines, but the original show can still have its own spinoff.
The sitcom that had a long span of 12 years on TV wrapped its story up back in 2019, leaving some space for the prequel to dive deeper into Sheldon Cooper’s background history.
Now that the latter is no longer the franchise’s focus since it’s shifting to Sheldon’s older brother Georgie and his family, the upcoming series might be followed by something The Big Bang Theory’s long-standing fans have been waiting for all those years.
However, there’s still little hope for expecting it on the screens anytime soon.
Talking about some of Young Sheldon’s actors’ recast for the upcoming spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, The Big Bang Theory’s co-creator Chuck Lorre admitted there’s indeed something related to the original series that is in the works, but things are just too complicated to proceed with its release in a couple of following years.
According to Lorre, The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff is still in the very early stages of work, “it’s endlessly in the works. It’s still prenatal.”
Despite being officially confirmed as something that still has chances to be ever seen by the franchise’s fans, an unnamed spinoff remains a huge mystery since nothing about its plot line or at least returning characters have been revealed so far.
Considering that the series is surely attached to The Big Bang Theory, it might finally make it up to the sitcom’s constantly snubbed characters like Raj or Stuart by exploring their own paths without putting its focus on the original show’s leads.
Another possible option everyone has their fingers crossed for is the spinoff’s potential to take its viewers further in time by giving them a sneak peek into the life of the original characters’ grown-up children and the way they eventually bonded with each other.
Still, Chuck Lorre’s revelations come as a sinister omen for The Big Bang Theory’s fans, leaving them no other choice but to wait for a faraway date when the mysterious spinoff hits the screens (if it does so after all).
