Christian Bale Went Off and Yelled at Crew Member on Set of $200M Movie
The most versatile actor in the industry had a massive meltdown behind the scenes and regretted it instantly as the recording of it got leaked.
Christian Bale 's talent and versatility are almost mythical. A large portion of the actor's fame is due to his outstanding ability to completely transform — both mentally and physically — for any role he's tasked with.
Bale's unique ability to become his characters made him one of the most well-established actors in the industry.
Apart from that, Christian is largely loved by the fans who constantly crave to see another project of his.
It seems like Bale's career is picture-perfect, but apparently, sometimes it's far from that, and the actor has a hard time working with some folks.
Terminator Salvation was released back in 2009. Christian Bale starred in the movie, playing none other than John Connor, the savior of humanity.
While it's the main role, the actor later revealed that he wasn't happy with participating in the project — but even prior to that, the public saw a glimpse of his anger through a leaked recording.
The audio was obviously recorded unbeknownst to Bale, and it featured him yelling at one of the crew members, Shane Hurlbut.
Apparently, Shane (who was the movie's cinematographer) walked onto the set to check the light while one of Bale's scenes was being filmed, and the actor lost his cool completely.
As it turned out, it wasn't the first time that Hurlbut did that sort of thing, and it was the second take he ruined by that point.
Christian Bale was fuming when he realized what happened and let his frustration out on the cinematographer, blaming him for utter incompetence.
"What the f*** are you doing? Are you a professional or not? You're unbelievable. The number of times you're strolling and f***ing around in the background! I've never had a DP behave like this. You don't f***ing understand what it's like working with actors, that's what that is," ranted Bale on the record.
Shane Hurlbut sounded really apologetic, but the actor kept going for a while before finally calming down.
After the audio got leaked to the public, Christian Bale received massive backlash from some of the audience and colleagues.
Others backed him up claiming that he had the right to be pissed off at such unprofessional behavior. Either way, the actor had to give an explanation of what happened on the set then.
Bale admitted that he "acted like a punk" and claimed that he apologized and settled the issue with Shane that very same day.
While the details are unknown, Hurlbut kept working with Bale for the remainder of the shooting, but after Terminator Salvation, they never worked on the same project again.
