Choosing Between Barbie and Oppenheimer: For Tom Cruise, Mission Is Possible
That must’ve been the most challenging stunt of them all.
Barbie vs. Oppenheimer has to be the biggest battle of the summer in the movie industry. Because Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, and Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, are so different in setting, cast, and genre, but share a release date, the world is already siding with one or the other.
With numerous memes already floating around the Internet, the world's toughest choice between two movies that both premiere on July 21 is starting to make its way into celebrity interviews.
However, not everyone is rushing to judgment, with some preferring to remain neutral until they have actually seen one of the movies.
Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise, for example, admits that he's already made up his mind about which movie he's going to see first. The actor was asked about his preference at the Australian premiere of Mission: Impossible - Part One at the Darling Harbour International Convention Centre in Sydney.
It’s safe to say, he gave out the perfect answer:
“I want to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer. I’ll see them opening weekend. Friday I’ll see Oppenheimer first and then Barbie on Saturday,” Cruise said.
The star also admitted that he still likes to go to the theater and finds it the most immersive way to watch movies, so it should be no problem for him to spend two days back-to-back in the theater.
Besides, this answer probably just saved the actor from a huge potential backlash, as there's no way both Gerwig's and Nolan's stans wouldn't come after him for naming the wrong title. Diplomacy must be another skill, right up there with the deadliest stunts, which Tom Cruise has perfected to perfection.
