There is an entirely different explanation for why Rose and Jack never fit together on that wooden door.

Despite the fact that James Cameron 's Titanic was released more than two decades ago, the film is still the subject of many fan theories. One of the most mind-boggling theories has recently resurfaced on social media and may completely change the way you see the movie the next time you rewatch it.

According to this theory, Jack Dawson is nothing more than... a figment of Rose's imagination that she created to somehow pull herself out of a depression.

Think about it: forced into a marriage with a rich but reprehensible man and basically trapped in a gilded cage, Rose was on the verge of committing suicide aboard the Titanic... until Jack miraculously showed up to save her.

Finally, we know that there was no record of Jack after the Titanic tragedy, as Rose mentioned that she didn't even have a photo of him. "He exists only in my memory," doesn't he? What if that was really the only place Jack ever existed?

Some things in the movie, however, suggest that Jack does exist. After all, someone made the drawing of Rose, which even survived the crash of the Titanic. Also, other characters in the movie interacted with Jack as if he were a real person. Besides, if Rose knew Jack wasn't real, why would she abandon her family during the evacuation to save someone who didn't exist?

However, all the evidence can be interpreted in different ways. The possibility that Rose invented her "Prince Charming" to cope with depression would be a stunning new way to look at Titanic.

The next time you watch the iconic film, you may find yourself searching for clues and rethinking everything you know about Titanic. You're welcome... we guess.
