Even though it's nothing new, it still hits hard every time it happens.

Chicago Fire is a hit series on NBC, and is now in its eleventh season. The show is famous for its main storyline which follows the heroes from Firehouse 51 who save lives every day.

What is also interesting are the many romantic subplots that the show has, each of which deserves the attention of the fans.

But there is another thing that Chicago Fire is famous for, and unfortunately, the viewers do not always appreciate it.

Yes, we are talking about Chicago Fire's tendency to kill off the main characters from time to time. And it looks like it's going to happen again pretty soon, based on the teases for the next episode of the season.

The writers are already planting some seeds for a future farewell – and the reason for that is another character's return.

As we already know, Jesse Spencer is coming back to the show in the finale as his character Matt Casey, but in the next episode, we may see a storyline that could be the beginning of the end for the show's major character (and Casey's love interest) Sylvie Brett.

Frankly, some fans think this was inevitable from the moment Casey made his way back to Chicago Fire for an episode earlier this year.

This made things complicated for the two of them, as there was almost no way to keep them together as a couple because Casey is away, but at the same time, keeping them apart was also kind of impossible.

So the only thing to do here is to "save" their love, since they still seem to have strong feelings for each other, is send Brett away with Casey… or maybe even kill her off.

It's a rather convenient development of the story, as Sylvie actually had doubts about her future at 51…

Well, it seems like the dots are starting to connect now.

Chicago Fire season 11 finale airs May 24 on NBC.
