The latest season of the show continues to surprise its fans.

Chicago Fire is one of those shows that keeps throwing unexpected things at its fans, whether it's unusual plot twists or love stories you never thought would happen.

Of course, what also catches the fandom off guard is the death of a character.

Season 11 seemed to be full of everything we mentioned and more. That's why viewers thought it was high time to already wrap it up, especially since there are already 18 episodes in the season.

Well, the finale date seems to only add to the confusion, because it was announced that season 11 will end on May 24th, which seems really odd at first because of everything we said before. But apparently there is an explanation.

It has been confirmed by NBC that the show will be on hiatus for the rest of this month, despite having aired several weeks in a row in March and April.

And the next episode will not air until May 3. But the good news is that after episode 19 airs in May, there will be no more interruptions and the rest of the episodes will come one after the other.

There are also some professional TV reasons for the delay. It seems that it's just easier for NBC to extend the season until the end of spring because it makes it easier to program the summer time slots.

Another reason is that there are also some production issues as the Chicago Fire producers have to deal with some of their cast members departing the show.

The most obvious example is the departure of Taylor Kinney, who plays Kelly Severide, which naturally causes some changes to the shooting schedule.

And it's been confirmed that the crew will be shooting until May in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.

So it seems like the only thing fans can do now is binge-watch the season to remember everything that happened during the season and be ready for the day when a new episode airs.

And of course, we can already start preparing ourselves for an emotional rollercoaster that the season finale will be.
