One of the most beloved firefighters is returning to Firehouse 51 in the May 24th episode, and the actor revealed his character's future in the series.

Over the course of the years, Chicago Fire has lost too many fan-favorite firefighters to personal issues or other projects.

From all the core members, it now only has Stella Kidd and the fans are not happy about it.

Luckily, NBC has a tendency of spoiling its future episodes, and we have great news. Of all the characters the Chicago Fire fans miss the most, two stand out: Matt Casey and Kelly Severide.

The audience has been craving their return ever since they left, and while Severide is still in an off-screen limbo due to Taylor Kinney's personal matters, Jesse Spencer's Casey is coming back in the season 11 finale!

Matt Casey's been largely missed for one and a half years as Spencer's last appearance in Chicago Fire as a full-time cast member was all the way back in 2021. Plot-wise, Casey moved to Oregon to take care of his friend's kids.

Last month, we already saw Casey in episode 18: Captain came back to Chicago for a while to get Kidd involved with a Department of Homeland Security case.

Considering how the season 11 last episode's description mentions Stella finding out something peculiar about it, it's safe to say we'll see Matt again in the finale — perhaps, with some revelations about the Homeland Security case!

Earlier, Spencer revealed that he was happy to occasionally appear in Chicago Fire if it was justified by the plot but didn't think he was going to come back as a full-time actor.

But in the last month's episode, his character Casey hinted that he was going to become a free man soon as the kids were almost off to college.

It's not much but it's enough to give us a tiny bit of hope. Maybe, Casey will return after all; maybe, we'll even get Severide back at some point, too.

It would be something of a great Renaissance of Chicago Fire… But we're getting our hopes too high — for now, it's much safer to just cheer for Casey's comeback and hope for the best.
