Summary:

  • Chicago Fire is an NBC procedural drama now in its 12th season.
  • This season marks the departure of Kara Killmer, who has portrayed Sylvie Brett since 2014.
  • According to NBC's synopsis, episode 6, Port In The Storm, will be Killmer's last.

While TV viewers were happy to see their favorite shows back on the air after a long hiatus due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that took place in 2023, not all series remain the same.

Nearly all of 2024's winter and spring premieres were forced to air in a shortened format. And even then, the writers had to try to accommodate the departures of some of the actors. Chicago Fire was no exception.

As was announced prior to the premiere of the show's 12th season, which is now in full swing on NBC, the cast will be reduced by two actors. Alberto Rosende, who played Blake Gallo, left the show in the first episode of the season. Kara Killmer, who plays Sylvie Brett, stayed longer, but it's time for fans to prepare for an emotional goodbye.

When Will Sylvie Brett’s Last Episode Air?

There is no way around it: with each passing episode, Matt and Sylvie's wedding is getting closer and closer. Although fans have been waiting a long time for their favorite couple's happy ending, the feelings are still bittersweet as both will be leaving Chicago Fire for good.

Episode 6 of an ongoing season 12 will be titled Port In The Storm and it promises to be a very emotional ride for all Chicago Fire fans as they will be saying goodbye to both Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett. Although the episode will be inevitably sad, it will portray a massive celebration of love with a big fiery wedding.

“Firehouse 51 welcomes back some familiar faces and says goodbye to Brett. Violet scrambles to decorate Brett’s wedding venue. A call at the expo center takes a shocking turn,” reads the synopsis.

With the episode set to premiere on February 28th, there isn't much time to prepare. In less than two weeks, vows and rings will be exchanged, the mystery of the wedding dress will be revealed, and Firehouse 51 will have to say goodbye to two of its most beloved characters.

The only hope fans have for the show now is that Kelly Severide, portrayed by Taylor Kinney, will be so affected by the sentimental vibe of the wedding that he'll return to Chicago for good. Season 11, which aired in the actor's almost complete absence, proved that Firehouse 51 is very lonely without him.

Losing two more people without a substantial replacement will make the rest of the season feel too empty and boring.

If you are just as excited to see the firehouse wedding, be sure to tune in to NBC every Wednesday to not miss another episode of Chicago Fire.
