Season 10 ended with a major event, and it would have been rather tainted if the writers had chosen to use a seemingly obvious plot twist.

Chicago Fire has had many significant events during its 11-season run, one of the most recent being the wedding of Kelly Severide, portrayed by Taylor Kinney, and Stella Kid, played by Miranda Rae Mayo, in the season 10 finale.

And this joyous occasion could have been easily soured by an annoying TV and movie trope, which they thankfully chose not to use.

Sorry if you actually dreamed about that happening...

Some fans say it would have been great if Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) had proposed to Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) during the wedding.

And even though it would have changed the show in a big way, would it have been a good move?

Absolutely not, according to the majority of other fans. This trope has been used in countless other TV shows, romantic comedies, and even in real life.

And it is the ultimate dirty move, usually frowned upon for good reason.

Proposing on your best friend's wedding day is just plain rude, and fans think Casey is too classy to pull such a dirty stunt, it would be completely out of character.

Besides, he respects Severide and Stella far too much to break this simple rule of etiquette.

Of course, he already proposed to his now ex-wife Gabriele once under similar circumstances, and the viewers are glad that he learned from it and did not repeat his mistake.

It would also most likely have caused Brett to leave Chicago to be with him.

However, some fans still consider this an option, even though season 11 is coming to an end.

Brett still seems to be not over Casey, and with other hints in mind, fans think that she might eventually leave the show to rekindle their relationship off-screen.
