Chicago Fire Fans Not Holding Back Their Disapproval of Peter Mills
The rookie firefighter seems to be the most hated character on the show.
Over the course of 11 seasons, Chicago Fire fans have seen many different characters come and go. And while some of them are sorely missed to this day, others are better left behind. Among the characters that have bugged the hell out of the fans, there is one name that pops up in a lot of fan discussions.
Fans hate Peter Mills and do not hold back their anger and frustration over his presence on the show. There is even a poll on the r/ChicagoFireNBC subreddit that proves that Mills is the most disliked character on the show.
Without missing a beat, the majority of fans gave Mills their votes, making him win this unflattering race by a wide margin. But why do the fans hate him so much?

Many actually liked the young firefighter when he joined the Squad. But after that, fans noticed that the protagonist started getting the best storylines at the expense of other characters, and quickly became an irritating Mary Sue character who always knew what to do and how to save the day.
"His sense of entitlement amongst other things is one of the reasons I can't stand him," one of the fans wrote on Reddit.
Also, Mills had a terrible temper. He was arrogant, stubborn, and selfish to the point where his ego got the best of him. Fans hated the whole Dawson/Casey storyline and all the times Mills put everyone in danger with his childish behavior, whether it was pretending not to have vertigo just to get on the department or rushing into the burning family restaurant to retrieve his late father's badges.
"I always got a sense of an overgrown little boy. Like he wasn't fully baked yet," a fan commented.
Fans even hated the way his storyline ended in Season 3. After finally getting the job he had been fighting for for three seasons, Mills quit to take over the family business. When the firefighter was written off, long-time viewers were happy to see the back of him, and some even felt the show got better with him gone.
"God, if they bring him back, I'm going to flip out," one of the fans commented.
Fortunately, the writers left Peter Mills in the past, and now fans can enjoy the beloved show without its most hated character.
