Chicago Fire: Casey's Proposal Is Actually a Huge Game-Changer For the Show
What the fans have been waiting for finally happened, but how does it affect the show?
Season 11 of Chicago Fire has come to an end, and it proved to be full of intense situations and plot twists. But the main event was undoubtedly what fans of the series have been waiting for so long – Casey finally proposed to Sylvie.
Of course, the scriptwriters could not help but leave a mystery – the scene ended on a cliffhanger and the fans still don’t know what Sylvie will answer.
Jesse Spencer has been playing his character for almost a decade since the first season of Chicago Fire. During the show's run, Matt Casey has risen from firefighter lieutenant to crew chief and then commander of the Chicago Fire Department's 51.
In the tenth season, the character decides to leave the city and go to Oregon to take custody of the two sons of firefighter Andy Darden, who died in the first season, as their mother ended up in prison.
Meanwhile, it was mentioned in the episode that Casey would be away for about three years, but his barely born love line with paramedic Sylvie Brett was not over as they wanted to try try a long-distance relationship.
However, such a relationship proved to be too difficult for the couple, and Sylvie broke up with Casey, even though they both still loved each other.
Casey returned for the season 10 finale to watch his best friend tie the knot. Afterwards, Casey and Sylvie discussed their plans for the future, and Casey admitted that he wished Sylvie could stay with him in Portland forever.
How Sylvie responds to Casey’s proposal will largely determine the fate of the show. If Brett says no, then it is unlikely that Casey will return to the show on a permanent basis, as he will simply have no reason to.
However, if Sylvie agrees to the marriage, then the actor will most likely become one of the main characters again. Besides, Casey has already talked to Boden about wanting to return to Chicago, and Boden let him know that he would be welcome.
The actor himself hasn't made any announcements yet, but fans are hoping that Sylvie will still say "yes" and one of the beloved characters will be able to fully return to Chicago Fire.
There is no exact release date for season 12 of Chicago Fire, but it is known that it will be aired in the fall of 2023.
