More screen time for the beloved characters? Seems like too much to ask when it comes to this show.

Chicago Fire fans are tired of the writers playing with their emotions.

According to the fandom, it seems like they put more effort into developing the storylines of the most boring and annoying characters and forget to pay enough attention to the oldies, who are recognized as the best.

Among them is the all-time favorite, Deputy Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, played by British actor Eamonn Walker. He has performed this role since the series began in 2012.

He has quickly earned his place in the hearts of the viewers. Of course, one reason is that the man is really good-looking, but that's not the main point.

What really made him special for the fans is his personality. Sure, he is very demanding of the crew and sometimes even harsh, but Walker's character is more complicated than that.

When it comes to resolving professional and personal issues with his team, he is also very generous and unfailingly fair.

But now the fans are really concerned that they haven't seen much of his actions on screen for a long time.

"He went from being in every episode to maybe 1, every so often. We see so little of him and I miss when he was properly folded into the house. I feel like all the Chicago shows have peaked and are losing the spark that kept them going. No Boden, no Casey, and now no Severide. The shows are getting lazy and boring," Reddit user flimsyManagement said.

Although some fans seem to understand why this can be the case. But they still wish there were more beloved characters involved in new episodes of the series.

"I think it's reasonable for Boden to be less active both on scene and handling firehouse drama, since he has the whole city district to take care of now, but recently we don't see him like at all, Boden-centric episodes used to be the best. I had a huge smile last halloween because of how they remembered to include him in a major story," Reddit user elmonosuke said.

The fandom is sure that Boden's complex personality and his character's background can benefit the show.

So they suggest that the writers reconsider their options and add more of him to the show in order to regain the viewers' interest.
