Chicago Fire Basically Spoiled Kara Killmer’s Frustrating Exit a Long Time Ago
We all knew it would happen, didn’t we?
Summary:
- Chicago Fire is the NBC show that has been on air since 2012. The show is a part of Dick Wolf’s creative universe.
- This year the show has already lost one of the key cast members, Taylor Kinney, as he took a leave of absence with no particular date of return announced to the public.
- Now that the exit of Kara Killmer has been announced, fans wonder if there will be any newcomers to fill the gap.
When it comes to TV show news, Chicago Fire fans have been on the short end of the stick for the past year. Unfortunately, no matter how good a show is and how popular it is with its audience, that does not automatically shield it from the influence of personal events in the lives of its cast members.
With the departure of Jesse Spencer, who portrayed one of the show's leads, Matt Casey, the honor and burden of being the show's centerpiece fell to Taylor Kinney and his character, Kelly Severide. He was already adored by the fans, so there was no problem with him becoming less of a main character and more of a spiritual leader in the eyes of the audience.
What did have a huge impact was the leave of absence the actor took at the beginning of the year. Kelly Severide was temporarily written off, leaving his wife and the entire network in anticipation of his comeback. Of course, the quality of the show remained the same, but the sense of uncertainty began to overwhelm viewers.
The season ended without Severide. Jesse Spencer's Matt Casey was brought back for the finale, and while some fans were hoping to see him return at least as a supporting character, in reality, his comeback only set the stage for another cast member to leave.
Kara Killmer’s Last Season On Chicago Fire
Kara Killmer, who portrayed Sylvie Brett on the show since 2014, has now been confirmed to also be leaving Chicago Fire after season 12.
Her departure was certainly disappointing, but not at all surprising to the majority of fans. At the very end of last season, Casey got down on one knee and proposed to Sylvie, a proposal she was unlikely to refuse.
From the beginning, this could only mean one of two things: either Jesse Spencer would be returning to the show, or it was time to say goodbye to Kara Killmer as well. The news undoubtedly saddened a lot of fans who are now left in confusion as to how the core cast of the show will look in the upcoming season 12. However, there are also some positive aspects.
At least this time around, the writers seem to be ready to suggest a happy ending for the departing characters and give the audience some real closure.
