It's safe to say that Game of Thrones has been an iconic TV show, whether you agree with how it ended or not. We've all been glued to our screens, rooting for one family or another and trying to figure out what's going to happen next to turn the situation on its head.
Game of Thrones has taught us a lot about trust, and how we shouldn't have any in George R.R. Martin, as fan-favorite characters have been killed off one by one. But more importantly, Game of Thrones has taught us a lot about love and kindness, and how they don't really matter when it comes to power.
For many young actors, Game of Thrones has become the launching pad for very successful careers. And even those who were already known in Hollywood were able to increase their visibility and get some nominations and awards. Everything seemed to be going well.
But in 2023, four years after the finale, the stars of the show don't seem to think much about what happened back then.
Lena Headey About House of The Dragon
After a very controversial Game of Thrones finale, many viewers felt a certain amount of suspicion towards the creative team behind the prequel. Luckily, they were all proven wrong by the amazing quality of the pilot, and the instant renewal of the show to yet another season.
While House of The Dragon still explores the same universe, the events take place nearly 200 years earlier than what we saw before. However, that's not nearly enough for the actors who spent 8 years as their Game of Thrones characters to distance themselves and just enjoy the story.
Emilia Clarke, who portrayed Daenerys Targaryen in the original series, was very open about the fact that the prequel was too weird for her to watch. Such sentiment wasn’t surprising, considering the fact the prequel tells a story of Daenerys’ direct descendants and the civil war that led Targaryens to the state she had to deal with.
Now Lena Heady, who portrayed Cersei Lannister, is echoing the same sentiment. She answered the question for The Hollywood Reporter with a neutral "Nah." This revelation surprised the fans a little more.
Not only that but while answering a follow-up question, the actress revealed that she doesn't have any nostalgia for the project. The cast and crew? Sure, but the fantasy universe itself seems to be left behind.
“I miss the people — because you fall in love with people, and you create these family units. So that takes a little while to go though. There’s a weird grief from those relationships. But I don’t miss it. We did it. We put everything into it. It changed everyone’s f**king world, and we’ll always have it,” she said.
No matter how much you miss or don’t miss George R. R. Martin’s universe, House of The Dragon would be a great watch and a way to stay entertained for a good couple of evenings in front of your TV. Both Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon are available to stream on MAX.
