Catching Up for 'Multiverse of Madness': What Marvel Movies and TV Series to Watch?
The good news is, you don't have to re-watch every Marvel movie to understand what's going on in 'Multiverse of Madness'. The bad news, however, is that the number of movies and TV series to watch before the long-awaited Doctor Strange solo sequel to actually catch up… is maybe somewhat bigger than expected.
With 'Multiverse of Madness' premiere being only a couple of days away, you don't have that much time to get ready – and you actually need to be ready for that level of craziness. The premise in and of itself sounds confusing enough – what with alternate realities, timelines, portals, superhero variants and stuff like that. So to actually understand what's going on and, moreover, to have fun watching 'Multiverse of Madness', you better go watch these movies and TV shows to catch up:
The origin story, absolutely essential if – for some reason – you still don't know who Steven Strange is and have seen nothing since, say, 'Age of Ultron'. 'Doctor Strange' introduces the Sorcerer Supreme himself alongside a couple of other important characters – Christine Palmer, Karl Mordo, and Wong (all of them will appear in 'Multiverse of Madness' and will play major part in the story development).
2. WandaVision
One of the most popular Disney+ TV shows follows the aftermath of 'Endgame' with Wanda losing the love of her life in 'Infinity War '. Unable to cope with Vision's death, Wanda creates a fake, sitcom-like reality for herself, Vision and their future kids, but the real world inevitably won't leave her alone.
3. What If?
Yet another Disney+ TV series, essential for understanding of what's to come in 'Multiverse of Madness'. Watch episodes 1, 4, 8, and 9 of 'What If?' if you don't have time for every single episode of the show, and get familiar with the concept of Variants – different versions of our beloved superheroes, existing in alternate realities. Lots of these variants will appear in upcoming 'Multiverse of Madness' – from Zombie Strange to Captain Carter.
Here's the list of the essential 'What If?' episodes:
- Episode 1 – introduces Captain Carter
- Episode 4 – introduces Strange Supreme
- Episode 5 – showcases Marvel Zombies
- Episode 8 – events leading up to the finale
- Episode 9 – showcases the power of Strange Supreme
4. Spider-Man: No Way Home
Aside from the movie itself bringing back all the 00's and 2010's nostalgia with Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield, 'No Way Home' is a must-watch to better understand the concept of multiverse, portals and alternate realities.
