Castiel in The Winchesters? Still Possible, Says Misha Collins
Castiel is a favorite character for many fans who hoped to see at least a small cameo of the angel in the Supernatural spinoff, The Winchesters. This never happened, but it turns out that there was, and may still be, a chance.
Talk of Misha Collins ' involvement in the first season of The Winchesters has been on the rise since his tweet left fans hoping for the return of the beloved character.
"Seems like this show would benefit from a time-traveling angel-in-a-trenchcoat character. Just saying," Misha wrote on his Twitter page.
Viewers never got to see Castiel in the first season of The Winchesters, but hope is not lost if the show is renewed for a second season.
Interviewed by Deadline, Misha revealed some details about the Winchesters' upcoming seasons that are bound to please fans.
"We did have conversations about Castiel rejoining the Supernatural universe for the end of this first season of The Winchesters but for various reasons, it didn't work out.
But Jensen [Ackles] and I are certainly open to it. We've had several conversations about it and would love to explore how to best do that in subsequent seasons of The Winchesters," the actor said.
It's no secret that Supernatural's golden trio support each other in real life. Recently, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki made a funny video where they shared their plans, and of course it was watching Gotham Knights, where Misha Collins plays Two-Face.
Misha himself shared that he could reunite with Jensen on that show. On the Flash podcast, Misha revealed that the show's creators tried to get Ackles to play the new Batman, but the plan didn't work out because the actor was busy with other projects.
Fans agreed that Jensen, who already voices Batman in the animated films, would be perfect for the role.
The fate of the Winchesters remains unclear. Recently, Nexstar Media Group bought stakes in The CW, leaving fans worried about the future of the show.
Company officials have announced that they will adopt a more austere policy, which could put the second season in jeopardy.
However, according to the Winchester showrunner Robbie Thompson, if The CW refuses to continue, the project will be transferred to another studio. Fans can only wait for news and hope for the return of the angel in a beige trenchcoat.
