Canceled Too Soon: 11 Comedy Shows That Deserved More Time
There's nothing more depressing than watching your favorite show get canceled way earlier than expected, which has unfortunately become the norm in our age of Peak TV.
Inexplicably, early cancellations plague comedy shows far more than drama series, perhaps due to the genre's more relaxed standards.
Here's a list of 11 great comedy shows that were canceled out of the blue:
When we think of the best comedy on television, we tend to think of long and hugely successful sitcoms, because they have become an everyday part of our lives due to the sheer number of seasons they have run. Short comedy shows are almost entirely excluded from this conversation, simply because they failed to last longer, which is rather unfair if you ask us.
However, in recent times, some of the short series on this list have finally gotten their due, gaining cult status and even receiving new seasons. We are referring, of course, to Arrested Development and Party Down, two insanely funny and addictive series that were both canceled long before viewers were ready to let them go.
Let's hope that other entries on this list, at least the most recent ones, will get sequels in the near future, as the demand to see their characters back has been building among fans for quite some time.
Here are all the shows mentioned: Arrested Development, The Grinder, Better Off Ted, Party Down, Wrecked, Ben and Kate, Happy Endings, Get a Life, My Name Is Earl, Trial & Error, Santa Clarita Diet.
