The trailer for 'Doctor Strange 2' conceals many secrets, and the most notable one has to be a glimpse at Darkhold, which may hint at the film's possible main villain.

It's no secret that 'WandaVision' and upcoming 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' are closely related – one such notable common link is Darkhold, the legendary dark magic spell book currently owned by Wanda Maximoff.

First introduced to MCU in 'WandaVision' as an ultimate weapon used by witch Agatha Harkness, Darkhold was then acquired by Scarlet Witch. And here comes Chthon, the Elder God, capable of destroying entire planets in an instant, credited as the original creator of the book.

Imprisoned in the depths of Mount Wundagor, Chthon cannot harm humanity, but the last scene of 'WandaVision' destroys this status quo – fans believe that the place where Wanda was in the series finale is actually that very mountain. Could it be that this fallen god is trying to lure the witch closer so she can set him free? If so, he may well be the secret villain of 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'.

Fans are excited with Chthon's possible introduction to the MCU, with some sharing their theories over at Twitter.

While others simply joking about Chthon's potential appearance.

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' hits theatres on May 6, 2022.
