In The Boys, a series known for its dark and twisted portrayal of superheroes, Homelander stands out as a particularly complex and often detestable character. There are very particular scenes that pretty much sum up why we love to hate him.
Breaking Blindspot's Ears
Homelander meets Blindspot, a differently-abled hero with super-hearing but no sight and a potential member of The Seven. Initially, Homelander acts all nice, praising Blindspot for overcoming his disability.
But, then, he violently smashes Blindspot's ears, rendering him deaf. This cruelty just for the sake of showing who's boss in The Seven was downright gut-wrenching.
The Plane Scene (Flight 37)
Homelander and Queen Maeve were on a mission to thwart a terrorist attack on an airplane. Despite their success in neutralizing the threat, their actions led to a catastrophic failure.
Homelander's apathy towards human life was glaringly evident as he chose not to save the passengers, focusing instead on how the situation would affect public perception.
Raping Becca
Homelander going after Becca, Billy Butcher's wife, is a major messed-up and horrifying moment in the series. After Becca and Homelander meet at a year-end party, he straight-up does something awful to her, and she ends up pregnant because of it. It's just sickening, really.
This incident is shrouded in secrecy and betrayal, as Becca is forced into hiding and made to sign a confidentiality agreement, creating a significant rift between her and her husband.
Suicide Girl on the Roof Scene
A scene in season 3, episode 2, titled The Only Man In The Sky, Homelander is trying to save Chelsea, a young woman preparing to jump from a high rise. However, Homelander, in a fit of rage and distress over news of Stormfront’s suicide, forces Chelsea to jump to her death.
Killing Doppelganger
In a bizarre and unsettling scene in season 2, Homelander goes all psycho and faces his own messed-up feelings by offing Doppelganger. He straight-up tells him, "I. Don’t. Need. You." before killing him. It is a twisted moment that shows just how messed up Homelander's head is.
