Can Eddie Munson Still Be Alive?
When it comes to Stranger Things, is the end ever really the end?
Season 4 of Stranger Things introduced fans to quirky, rebellious metal-head Eddie Munson, the leader of the Hellfire Club, lover of Dungeons and Dragons, and close friend to Duston Henderson and others of the Hawkins gang. Eddie quickly stole the hearts of fans and was a big part of the storyline in the latest season, however his time was cut painfully short. In the season finale, Eddie is killed by Demobats after sacrificing himself to save his friends and ultimately buy them more time to fight Vecna and save Max. His death is by far one of the most emotional moments in the series and left fans shocked, saddened, and in denial, with theories of Season 5 already circulating like a swarm of Demobats in the Upside Down.
Although Eddie undeniably died a hero, the majority of Hawkins still believe that he is a murderer and the leader of a cult (The Hellfire Club). Eddie being alive in season 5 would give him the opportunity to finally clear his name and prove that he did not kill Chrissy. After the way the show killed him, fans might argue that this would be the very least he deserved. The show has proven to be notorious for its characters too close for comfort brushes with death, with Will, Hopper, and Max all at one point having been presumed dead by fans and later returned. Although his death was on screen and heartbreakingly graphic, fans know that nothing is ever certain. Could Eddie have actually survived? Or if he did die, maybe there is a way he could still play a part in the upcoming season?
This brings us to one of the most popular theories. The game Dungeons and Dragons is a huge part of Stranger Things, and in Dungeons and Dragons, Vecna has a lieutenant, or right-hand named Kas the Bloody-Handed. Kas is a vampire… And Eddie was killed by Demobats… Could there be a chance that Eddie gets resurrected as a vampire and Vecna's right hand?
Although fans would be happy with either one of these plots, Stranger Things is known for the element of the unexpected, and bringing back Eddie Munson could be considered not only predictable but also a lazy move by the producers and writers, with his character being the fourth to die/not die over the 4 seasons.
To quote the late Eddie Munson, "Bad news first, always"' Rumor has it the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Eddie Munson will not be a part of the next installment of Stranger Things, so the prospect of Eddie Munson making it into another season are minimal, but not impossible, nothing seems to impossible when it comes to Stranger Things.
