Even nepo-babies fail sometimes.

Summary:

  • Brooklyn Beckham is the eldest son of soccer legend David Beckham and former pop star Victoria Beckham.
  • Back in 2022, Beckham Jr. got married to American actress Nicola Peltz.
  • He was supposed to make his acting debut in the Peltz-directed film Lola, but had to be cut due to a lack of acting skills.

One of the major points of discussion in 2023 was the concept of nepo babies, and the consequences the industry suffers from being overwhelmed with children of famous parents.

While every single debate came to the conclusion that talent should always be more important than status or lack thereof, many people still believe that the actors who carry their parents' legacy in their name have it much easier than everyone else.

After all, getting noticed in Hollywood is the hardest part, right? But if you are part of this community from the beginning, it must be much easier to get the job. However, the case of David and Victoria Beckham's son proves that being born with a fancy last name isn't always enough to make it.

Is Brooklyn Beckham an Actor?

You'd think that with such influential parents and a wife involved in the industry, Brooklyn Beckham would have no problem transforming his career and moving from magazine covers to the big screen. In some cases, however, even nepo-baby status cannot overcome an apparent lack of experience and skill.

Speaking to The Times, the actress recalled a moment when she realized she could never put her husband on screen. Although she was initially enthusiastic about his participation, it was only when they began editing the film that she realized how disastrous Brooklyn Beckham's performance was for the movie.

“I started laughing so hard. He had the most British accent ever. I ended up cutting him out! He sat there, in the editing room, he was like, 'Did you really just cut me out while I'm sitting here?' ... I was like, 'Yes, I love you so much!’” she shared.

Considering that Lola, which was released in the United States on February 9th, is Peltz’s directorial debut, it’s understandable why she wanted to see everything perfect for the final cut.

Besides, the incident doesn’t seem to have affected the couple in any way. Creative partnership or not, Beckham and Peltz still are full of marital bliss.

Lola, which now has an audience score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, is available in local theaters across the United States. If you want to see the movie online, you can rent or buy it on Apple TV or Vudu.
