With the immense success of the hit Netflix show Bridgerton, fans have been eager to see the period drama delve into more progressive topics such as LGBTQ+, and now they have a great idea for how to do it.

In fact, a fan recently posted a thought-provoking suggestion on Reddit about how showrunners could introduce an LGBTQ+ storyline into the series that could actually work.

Bridgerton is known for using a modern approach when it comes to blending historical elements with more contemporary themes. However, fans have been vocal about wanting to see more diversity on the show. And while they're waiting, they've been coming up with their own ideas for a potential LGBTQ+ storyline, and a recent post by u/FlamingosandMarigold has generated a lot of buzz and discussion among fans, with many agreeing that this would be an amazing addition to the show.

According to this idea, the season could be kick-started with Colin and Penelope finding out about Philip's passing and both worrying about Marina. But due to them having their hands full with their children, they ask the "spinster" Eloise to stay with Marina and help her out with the kids for some time.

When they come to visit, however, it becomes apparent that Eloise and Marina share a romantic bond. As they're unable to get married legally, they tie the knot at Romney Hall surrounded by their family members. They go on to live together, making the outside world believe that Eloise is simply a spinster who's assisting Marina.

The proposition has already gained traction among fans, many of whom are hoping that Bridgerton writers will take note of this suggestion and make it happen. And they'd be happy to know that there may be hope because the author of the original Bridgerton series of novels, Julia Quinn herself, has stated in an interview with Cosmopolitan Spain that she's open to the idea of introducing a gay lead character in the show.

Although this news was welcomed by the fans of the show, some are yet to be convinced this would actually take place as Quinn is not part of the writing process for the series and the decision won't be hers to make.

We can't know for sure whether there will be an LGBTQ+ storyline anytime soon. But with its potential to bring more diversity and representation into the show, this could be a great opportunity for the hit series to contribute to a more inclusive world.
