Bridgerton Trailer Confirms the Show’s Most Devastating Arc Coming In Season 3
It’s only the beginning.
Summary:
- After a 2-year wait for season 3, Bridgerton fans finally get a first look at the story with an official trailer.
- Among other Bridgerton siblings, the trailer features the newly cast Francesca, now played by Hannah Dodd.
- Fans believe that the frame with Francesca's longing look at her parents' portrayal foreshadows her tragic arc from Julia Quinn's novels.
Based on Julia Quinn's novel series, Bridgerton, the TV show has not always followed the original source to the letter, often leading fans to criticize the script. While Shondaland and Netflix have worked hard to keep all of the siblings' romantic interests intact, as well as the tropes they represent, the intricacies of getting to the happy ending often change.
With Francesca Bridgerton's storyline, it's hard to say where the writers will take her. As the third Bridgerton daughter, she will not make her debut until next season. However, based on some scenes from the trailer, fans are already predicting a lot of angst coming her way.
Will Francesca Bridgerton Appear in Season 3?
Although most of the attention has been focused on this season's main couple, Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, the Season 3 trailer offered a glimpse of all the other characters, including the most intriguing Bridgerton daughter, Francesca.
Since she hasn't been very present in the past few seasons, viewers who haven't read Julia Quinn's novels may have some trouble recognizing her. However, now that she has been recast as Hannah Dodd, Francesca will make her debut this season and will be given an important role of her own.
Many believe that her arc was heavily foreshadowed in the trailer. And if you don't want to know too many spoilers too soon, here's your cue to leave.
One of the scenes in the trailer shows Francesca looking longingly at the portrait of her parents, Edmund and Violet Bridgerton. As viewers learned in a previous season, Edmund's death was sudden and unexpected, very traumatic for all of his children, as well as for Violet, who was pregnant with their youngest daughter, Hyacinth, at the time.
Like any other young lady of the ton, Francesca's task this season will be to find a husband, and she will be far more successful than many, marrying John, the Earl of Kilmartin. However, the marriage isn't destined to last, and Francesca's husband will die, opening up a whole new arc for her character.
Though it won't all happen in season 3, fans will at least get to meet John and see the beginning of the tragedy as early as this May. If you are hooked and want to see where Netflix's adaptation will take Francesca next, tune in to Bridgerton season 3 part 1 on May 16.
