Bridgerton S3 Will Focus On Penelope, But The Show Isn't Done With Kate Yet
Since Julia Quinn's novels were adapted for the small screen and released on 25th December 2020, many fans said it was a true Christmas gift after a COVID-filled year.
The long-awaited season 2 arrived in March 2022 and focused on Anthony Bridgerton. The show is now the second most-popular show on Netflix after Stranger Things and fans can't wait for season three to land.
Until season 3, the Netflix seasons have followed the order of Quinn's novels so it will be interesting to see how some of the links are made with the next season as its focus is on Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan), and not Benedict.
Penelope has a long-established interest in Colin Bridgerton, but this have never been reciprocated. After hearing him talk about her in season 2, Penelope decides to abandon her hope of getting with Colin and seeks to find herself a husband – one who will allow her to be independent enough to continue being Lady Whistledown in secret.
The Tragic Story Behind Bridgerton Graphic Novel
When Colin returns from traveling, he realizes Penelope is not showing any interest and he's keen to talk her round.
But what of the rest of the cast from Seasons 1 and 2?
Bridgerton Author Julia Quinn Had the Best Reaction to the Show's Plot Twist
The presence of the Duke of Hastings (played by Regé-Jean Page) was missing from Season 2 and Daphne (played by Phoebe Dynevor) was only seen occasionally. Does this mean that Kate (played by Simone Ashley) and Anthony (played by Jonathan Bailey ) won't be around much in Season 3? Thankfully not! When interviewed for Vogue, Simone Ashley revealed:
"We're filming a dance this week and tonally, it's so different – sweet, endearing and light, compared to the heaviness of their story last season."
From reading the interview, we get a sense that fans will get to see a new side to Kate as she settles into her new role as viscountess. She went on to say:
"Even though she comes across as fierce, people like that are sometimes the softest on the inside. They develop that skin because they're vulnerable. You see her insecurities and fears."
It will certainly be interesting to see Kate in her role as a Bridgerton.
The jury's out on when Bridgerton Season 3 will hit our screens. It's believed that filming is going on until the new year. Whenever it does get released, you can rest assured it's going to be more popular than ever!
