Bridgerton's Secret Code: Penelope's Yellow Outfits Hid a Deeper Meaning

The Bridgerton season 1 aired in 2020 and immediately became one of the most successful Netflix projects.
It may seem that over the course of three years we learned absolutely everything about it, but fans are still discovering unknown details and hidden meanings behind it.
Here's another one for you.
One character in the show was all about her wardrobe, without the fans' even understanding that. This is Penelope Featherington, the eldest daughter of the Featherington family, amazingly played by Nicola Coughlan.
Observant viewers may have noticed that she only wore yellow clothes, but they never seem to care why.
Maybe she likes the color, so what, right? But the designers of the show made it pretty clear that this was their intention all along.
The great majority of the beautiful ladies in the series wear beige and pink, and we often see them in sky-blue dresses as well. But Penelope seemed to stand out, wearing her bright, eye-catching yellow dresses and accessories.
The costume designer of season 1, Ellen Mirojnick, told Popsugar that she had chosen yellow for Penelope to highlight her deceitful nature, after all she was the Lady Whistledown even though nobody knew that.
Also at the Regency era, where the series is set, yellow represented high level involvement.
However, during one scene in season 2 Penelope actually admits to Edwina Sharma that she is actually really tired of the color and doesn't have any particular fondness for it.
Now fans hope that Penelope will grow into a stylish woman with her own taste in the upcoming season. The third season will finally be her time to shine — and boy everyone is ready for that.
"I really really hope they do Penelope's season justice for her. I want to see a major character transformation. New clothes and a new hairstyle. I want the audience to just know going into her and Colin's season that HE will be the jealous one and HE will be the one chasing after her, not the other way around," Reddit user Aggressive_Cat7989 said.
