This can ruin everything.

Summary:

  • Bridgerton is a romantic period drama produced by Netflix and Shondaland, based on the series of novels by Julia Quinn.
  • Shonda Rhimes originally planned to cover all 8 books and create an 8-season show.
  • However, fans fear that Netflix will cancel the show due to production delays.
  • This may force the creators to merge two of the most anticipated stories into 1 season.

From the very beginning Shonda Rhimes’ plans for Bridgerton to become an 8-season show, with each season covering yet another Bridgerton-esque romance, were ambitious, to say the least. However, after the blasting success of season 1, it became much easier to believe that this is, in fact, possible.

Unfortunately, the show quickly went out of luck again, having to face one issue after the other, which caused the production to be delayed. It was COVID at first, then the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes mixed with the need for reshoots. Now that each season takes 2 years to release, people start to worry again.

Will Netflix be patient enough to let Rhimes finish off the whole franchise, or will season 4 be the last we’re to see? That is the burning question for many fans today. However, there is another question, that makes the fandom split in half for the shippers war. If season 4 will be the last, whose story is it going to tell?

Is Bridgerton S4 Benedict’s Turn?

The TV series has already changed the order of the books once, pushing Benedict's story further down the line and giving the spotlight to Colin and his love interest Penelope Featheringthon, as these two characters will be the main characters in season 3.

While fans of Julia Quinn's third novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, were extremely unhappy with this decision, they hoped to see justice restored in season 4. Their hopes were raised when Luke Thompson, the actor who portrays Benedict, was the only one added to the Bridgerton season 4 page on IMDb.

However, the recent addition of Chris Fulton to the same page has left fans completely confused.

Fulton, who portrays Sir Philip Crane, is supposed to be a love interest for Eloise Bridgerton, who doesn't appear in Benedict's story at all. Though IMDb is a lightly redacted site that can be trusted as a reliable source, fans returned to a theory about the season together, no matter how bad it sounds.

Though Benedict and Eloise are the show's most beloved sibling duo, and a joint season would likely mean more adorable scenes together, it would certainly take away from the magic of both stories. That is why it will be so important for fans of both pairings to show the series their love and support once it premieres.

If you want Bridgerton to go beyond season 4 and give each sibling their own season, be sure to tune in to Netflix on May 16, 2024 and June 13, 2024 for the premieres of each part of the show.
