Bridgerton Fans Still Can't Get Over Edwina Acting Out "Like a Spoiled Toddler"
There are a lot of reasons to sympathize with Bridgerton's Edwina Sharma.
This is especially true during the events of "The Choice" when she realizes that her fiancé is actually in love with her sister. Ouch. The fact that this realization comes when they are both literally standing at the altar? In front of the Queen, their families, and the vicious gossipers of the ton? Double ouch. Triple, even.
It's understandable that Edwina would want to lash out after experiencing this kind of embarrassment. But here's the thing, Edwina: what exactly are you mad about? The fact that Anthony wasn't in love with you? He was pretty transparent about that fact. At every turn, Anthony made it clear that he liked Edwina but didn't love her, and that he was looking for a wife out of duty.
Okay, so is Edwina angry that Anthony wasn't the person she thought she was – ie a gallant, "even-tempered gentleman"? Girl, everybody told you that! Daphne confirmed that this wasn't true. Kate tried to warn her sister off, not only about Anthony's character but also about the fact that he was marrying her for business, rather than love. You can't ignore what everyone's telling you and then get mad at them for "manipulating" you.
The One Edwina Line in Bridgerton Fans Wish Was Never Written
Maybe Edwina is angry that Kate wanted the viscount "for herself". But Edwina… what are you even talking about?! Yeah, Kate was in love with Anthony, but she was also giving him up. Kate was poised on that altar too, except in her case it was to watch the man she loved marry her sister. Kate was prepared to swallow that and then flee halfway across the world. And Anthony was prepared to follow through on the marriage, just to keep Edwina from getting hurt.
Edwina, it sucks that the man you wanted was in love with your sister. But why did you have to lash out, as one Redditor put it, "like a spoiled toddler"? Get over it, girl. Everybody warned you that Anthony wasn't the right person for you, but you wanted him anyway. And because everyone worships the ground you walk on, you could have had him.
Sorry, Kanthony Fans: Bridgerton Season 1 is Still Superior
Luckily Edwina came to her senses by the end of the series, though it took a near-fatal accident to get her there. Hopefully, the younger Sharma sister shows up in later seasons, preferably with a more mature head on her shoulders.
