Bridgerton Fans Are Concerned Season 3 Won't Be About Actual Polin Romance
Will fans get enough Polin in Season 3?
Season 3 of Bridgerton, currently in production, is confirmed to be based on Julia Quinn's novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton and will focus on the romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton aka Polin. However, the series will certainly have to continue with its other storylines and pick up on some of the twists and turns of the book series.
So far, there's not much to say about the plot of Season 3, except for a few rumors and speculations. To the delight of fans, Penelope's actress Nicola Coughlan stated that the romantic arc will be faithful to the book.
"I think book fans are going to be happy," she said.
But there are many other storylines that need to be continued or completed. First of all, Season 3 can't ignore Kate and Anthony Bridgerton's relationship, which drew in many viewers last year. The show will show the early days of their marriage, and rumor has it that some of the steamiest sex scenes will be Kanthony's, not Polin's.
Then there is the Eloise and Penelope drama. In the Season 2 finale, Eloise finally found out that Penelope was the elusive Lady Whistledown, which infuriated her and made her end their friendship. Now, Eloise needs a new confidante, and it has been confirmed that the show will dive into her new friendship.
Should Bridgerton be That Progressive? Eloise's Future Might Be a Step Too Far
Another major storyline that will certainly take up a lot of screen time is the hunt for Lady Whistledown.
In the book, it was the ton that tried to unmask the anonymous author. In the show, it will most likely be the Queen. Add to that the fallout from Cousin Jack's mine scheme, the possible introduction of Benedict Bridgerton's love interest Sophie, Francesca Bridgerton's debut, and there's not much screen time left in an eight-episode season.
So far, Penelope and Colin have only shared a total of 21 minutes of screen time together. And as more and more subplots are added to the beloved series, Polin fans are worried that Season 3 may ruin their moment of joy and devote too little time to the actual pairing.
Five Ways the Bridgerton Series Improved on the Books
The hope remains that the writers will manage to keep all the subplots connected to the main love story. After all, the first two seasons have been busy, but not to the detriment of the main romantic arc.
