Brian Cox Says He Doesn't Cling To Succession, But His Actions Show Otherwise
Some actors just can't let go of their roles.
Since the beginning of Succession in 2018, audiences and critics alike quickly agreed on the brilliance of the cast.
The casting directors exceeded everyone's expectations, bringing in so many amazing actors that they are all still fighting for their Emmy nominations to this day.
One of the key characters whose miscasting could have ruined the show was Logan Roy.
However, as portrayed by Brian Cox, he turned out to be exactly what was needed: a grumpy, insufferable patriarch who abuses everyone around him and takes no responsibility for it.
However, fans believe that the casting was so good not only because of Cox's undeniable acting talent, but also because of some disturbing similarities in their personalities.
Just like Logan Roy, Brian Cox has been accused by the fandom of being too self-centered on several occasions.
For example, when he talked about his character's death and noted that it felt too soon. Or when he shared some harsh thoughts about his co-star Jeremy Strong's acting methods and how he got into the role.
Or when he said he didn't think Logan Roy was at the heart of everyone's problems on Succession.
"And somehow or other, because of what happened to Logan, I've been disinclined to watch the rest. I gather that ultimately, in the end, Logan's won through — even though he's in the grave. But it's a strange situation. I don't cling onto things. When I'm over, it's over, and I go on," the actor shared with BBC.
Although not watching the finale is a choice that many respect, some believe that it actually makes the actor more attached to the show rather than letting it end.
Either way, the general hope is that Brian Cox will let go of his Logan Roy's habits and go back to acting and adapting more likable characters in the future.
