Bryan Cranston urges people to stop the never-ending cycle of fan casting.

Bryan Cranston has proven his acting skills numerous times, especially with his portrayal of Walter White on Breaking Bad which is considered to be his most prominent performance. It’s no wonder so many fans are eager to see Cranston as their beloved characters.

Among DC fans, Bryan Cranston is constantly suggested to portray either Batman ’s old friend Commissioner Jim Gordon, or Superman ’s sworn enemy Lex Luthor.

Bryan Cranston recently had a chat with Josh Horowitz and shared what he thinks about being fancast as either Lex Luthor or Jim Gordon.

While Cranston lent his voice for Jim Gordong in 2011 Batman: Year One, and he would be actually great in the live-action role, Cranston expressed his belief that imagining him as Lex Luthor is "lazy casting."

He explained: “I had a bald head, they go ‘Ah! Lex Luthor!’ It’s like, come on. Let’s think about this a little bit.”

Bryan Cranston's comment is just a quick reminder that casting should involve a thoughtful and deliberate approach, instead of relying on physical resemblances alone.

While there is no doubt Cranston would indeed nail the role of the protagonist, proposing him for the role just because he was bald is really lazy.

We should also remember that Cranston shaved his head for the role of Heisenberg, and any other talented actor who might portray Lex Luthor can do the same.

However, in a 2016 interview with EW, Zack Snyder revealed that he thought of Bryan Cranston when it came to finding an actor for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. But eventually, Zack Snyder ended up going with Jesse Eisenberg.

Even though Cranston was briefly in consideration for the role, it probably added fuel to the fire of fans constantly dreaming about him playing Luthor.

Bryan Cranston is next expected in Matthew Vaughn’s spy action thriller Argylle, scheduled to be released on February 2, 2024.
