The Office has become a cult classic that has left an indelible mark on television. However, fans feel that a reboot of the sitcom would be a huge mistake.

It's been ten years since the story of the Dunder Mifflin workers ended, and rumors of a reboot have long been in the air.

The Office maintained high ratings and viewership until the very end, and it is logical to assume that a reboot of the show would be more than commercially successful.

However, while the show's creators have repeatedly expressed their desire to reboot the humorous classic, fans and even the cast seem to have been less than enthusiastic about the idea.

In an interview with Esquire, Steve Carell, who played the boss Michael Scott, gave his opinion on bringing a show like The Office back to modern times.

"But apart from the fact that I just don't think that's a good idea, it might be impossible to do that show today and have people accept it the way it was accepted ten years ago.

The climate's different. I mean, the whole idea of that character, Michael Scott, so much of it was predicated on inappropriate behavior," the actor said.

However, fans see the main problem not so much in the changed cultural and social realities, but in the fact that the main feature of the series was its characters, whose relationships were so interesting to watch.

According to many, without characters like Jim, Pam, Angela and others, the new start of The Office would be just another sitcom that would get lost among dozens of its kind and would only spoil the legacy of the series.

"Michael wouldn't be there, Jim and Pam wouldn't be there either, nor would Creed or Stanley. Neither would Kevin. They could have a few appearances, but what made the office work was the dynamic the characters all had with each other," Reddit user bpanio commented.

A wave of adaptations and reboots over the past few years has made fans wary of any new attempts to bring the good old shows back to life. So maybe The Office should just be a warm memory fans can always return to.
