Blue Bloods Likely to Say Goodbye to This Reagan before Finale
As the Blue Bloods finale is fast approaching, it seems like one member of the Reagan family is in for a tragic demise that will unite the rest of them.
Summary:
- Blue Bloods is ending after Season 14 as was announced in November 2023.
- The final season must create a compelling storyline that would unite the Reagan family.
- Joe Hill’s death could have the show come full circle, making him the perfect sacrificial lamb.
All good things must end, and Blue Bloods is no exception. However frustrated fans might be with the CBS decision, our favorite police drama is coming to a closure soon… Which means, the final season will likely include a major storyline that would unite the entire family — and there is a gruesome but optimal way to do just that.
Blue Bloods Is All about Family
One of the main reasons we love Blue Bloods is its ability to balance between two seemingly very different dramas: that of a police procedural and that of a family show. The show’s signature dinners bring all (okay, most) Reagans together every week, and we get to join them and be reminded of the importance of family.
Family is central to Blue Bloods and always has been, and the best storylines in the show’s history were the ones that had all the Reagans work on an important case together. Such a case would be the perfect send-off for the CBS drama as fans have been pleading for another big joint case for ages, but here comes the implication.
Blue Bloods Might Kill One of the Reagans
Full circle is a popular plot concept, and there’s a high likelihood Blue Bloods will also employ it: after all, the series started with the entire family working together on the Blue Templar case years ago. But this scenario implies a sacrifice — someone from the Reagan family, to make the case truly personal to the rest of them.
Back in Season 1, it was Joe Reagan: his being murdered by the Blue Templar agents began the show. In Season 14, it will most likely be his son, Joe Hill — a plot-important character who didn’t add much to the show after his sudden appearance but could make for the perfect sacrificial lamb for the finale.
Joe Hill’s death would have made Blue Bloods truly come full circle, ending where it began; no other candidate springs to mind. If the series’ writers aim to unite the Reagans on a significant and personal last case, Joe will likely have to go.
