After the New York Police Commissioner goes away, we still have the New England Police Chief to go on adventures with.

Blue Bloods has been Tom Selleck ’s primary project for the past 14 years, but all good things come to an end, and in Fall 2024, the CBS series will be finished. Selleck’s PC Frank Reagan will likely retire peacefully from the police, and so will the TV star himself — from the show.

But that doesn’t mean Selleck will stop chasing criminals: on the contrary, we bet he’ll crack down on them stronger than before!

After Blue Bloods, Even Reagans Turn to Stones

As dramatic as it sounds, we’re not anticipating everyone’s favorite law enforcement family to be collectively buried in the finale of Blue Bloods. However, as Tom Selleck steps down from his on-screen position as the New York Police Commissioner, he’ll likely fill in the equally familiar shoes of the New England Police Chief soon after.

You see, Frank Reagan is not Selleck’s only policeman alter ego. Prior to booking his Blue Bloods gig, the actor starred in the Jesse Stone movie series where he played the titular NE Police Chief.

Even when he was already busy in New York, Selleck still managed to star as Chief Stone in three more movies — and once he’s done with the CBS TV show, there will be nothing stopping him from reprising the role again.

Selleck Needs Another Big Project Immediately

It’s no one’s secret that out of the Blue Bloods’ entire cast and crew, not a single person opposes the show’s upcoming finale as strongly as Tom Selleck. Since the official finale announcement in December 2023, the star actor has gone on record countless times, trying to turn the tides and extend Blue Bloods for another season.

Apart from Selleck’s emotional attachment to the show, he has a strictly financial reason to panic, too: the actor fears that he’ll lose his luxurious ranch once the income stream from Blue Bloods cuts off, and that’s likely the case. So beyond anything, Selleck desperately needs another big project to save his property.

Reviving the Jesse Stone movies could be the move here. There are always more police stories to tell, and Chief Stone is a well-respected character; additionally, as Blue Bloods fans aren’t ready to say goodbye to it, many of them will flock to the new Jesse Stone movie or TV series if it happens. It’s a win-win for everyone, really.
