The episode may not be as straightforward as it seems at first glance.

The sixth season of the most popular show about the dangers of technology turned out to be a failure, according to many fans. The series ceased to be a topical satire and turned into an analog of Twilight Zone, telling scary and mystical stories.

But recently, Redditor 007lennon came up with a theory that sheds light on the flagship episode of Season 6, making the plot more intriguing and similar to the old Black Mirror episodes.

The story revolves around two astronauts, Cliff and David, who can slip into the bodies of robotic doppelgangers in their spare time and be with their families on Earth. But one terrible night, David's loved ones are brutally murdered by criminals who are angry that an android is living among real people.

Having lost not only his family but also his ability to visit Earth, David finds himself trapped in the spaceship. Cliff and his wife Lana decide to help the astronaut and let him visit the planet.

While in Cliff's robotic body, David walks in the woods, draws a picture, and of course, tries to hit on his partner's wife, but she supposedly rejects him.

However, the Redditor believes the affair did happen after all. David has a photographic memory, so when he returns to the ship, he makes some sketches in a notebook. When Cliff discovers the nude drawings of his wife, he confronts Lana, but she denies that anything has happened between her and David and even swears on the life of her child.

But if Lana had not undressed in front of David, he wouldn't have been able to draw her naked. That idea bothered Cliff, and the Redditor also thinks that it's sufficient proof that Lana and David were romantically linked.

Things get heated at the end of the episode, and the writers deliberately set up the situation so that fans think David is going to kill Cliff and take his body. But instead, the astronaut kills Lana and her child — or, at least, that's how it appears at first glance.

However, according to the Redditor, a lovesick David could not possibly stab the woman to whom he became so attached. Most likely, the astronaut wanted to apologize for prying into her family life or confess his love, but he certainly wouldn't have had the strength for murder.

And what if David is in fact innocent? The fan theory is that Lana herself was victimized by the hippie cult that killed David's family. Because of the characters' overuse of technology that violated the laws of nature, both astronauts lost their families — but none of them were directly involved in the killings.

Is the fan theory compelling?
