Biggest Issue That Undermined Otherwise Perfect Tony Stark-Peter Parker Dynamic
They just couldn't give us a nice father-son dynamic without ruining it, could they?
Probably one of the best things fans got out of Marvel's Spider-Man reboot was the relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark, who started out as his slightly annoyed patron and ended up as almost a fatherly figure.
The way Tom Holland 's Peter Parker was able to open up some new sides of Iron Man is truly amazing. Some might even say they worked too well together for their own good.
While it's always nice to see a cameo from a character who already has his own arc of three solo movies and several more about him leading a team, Spider-Man fans were counting on seeing more of Peter Parker in his own movie.
In reality, however, many felt that Peter Parker was too influenced by Stark, to the point where he lost his independence as a character and became an addition to the already existing hero.
"I felt that in each of the movies, Peter was essentially fighting what amounted to enemies of Iron Man. Overall I wouldn't change much from the last three movies but I also feel like Peter was reacting to events around him more than making decisions about his life," Redditor SpinFeniX said, pointing out what bothers them about the storyline.
Other fans seem to overwhelmingly agree, saying that what might have worked as an introductory tactic in the first movie didn't need to continue after that.
Of course, being a good person would always lead Peter to help Stark fight his enemies, but it would be good to see him fight for himself at least once.
After all, he has just as much power, if not more, than Iron Man, and he deserves more than being a perpetual sidekick.
Thankfully, the last movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, ended this cycle for Peter Parker, so the next movie could bring fans something completely different from what they know Spider-Man to be.
