The Big Bang Theory had 279 episodes and ended in 2019, but it seems like that's still not enough to move on from the series.

Reboots and reunions of the greatest sitcoms seem like the new black these days. The reasons why writers do them are different.

To hire a new cast that will end up in the same situations, to show how the famous characters are dealing with their lives being older and more mature, to make them catch up with the world, or just to force them to be there a little longer for us.

Seems like the latter is actually what could work for The Big Bang Theory.

TBBT's Worst Storyline Came Completely Out of Nowhere and Ruined Everything

The question was raised with the showrunners, and it seems they all agree that it can be a blessing in disguise. However, there is one problem that co-creator Bill Prady admitted to Entertainment Weekly.

Apparently, he just ran out of ideas on how to make the revival work.

"Would I like to stand on a stage someplace and watch those characters again? Yes, absolutely. But It's hard to imagine what you would see after the finale because I found the finale was just one of the most beautiful and satisfying episodes. The closure it brought was astonishing. It's hard to imagine reopening the story," he shared with EW.

Along with Bill Prady, another showrunner, Chuck Lorre, believes they hadn't left anything unsaid in the show. And the finale of the series was the best way to cover everything and give a proper goodbye to both the characters and the fans.

But after some thought, Prady and Lorre briefly imagined what they could show in a potential reboot. And the pandemic comes to the rescue (ironically).

Seriously, think about it: Sheldon knows more about germs than any other human being, and Bernadette is a microbiologist.

It would be fascinating to watch this dream team being in charge and driving everyone else in the group crazy.

Well, it's still unclear if we'll ever see the gang hanging out in Leonard's apartment eating Chinese food, but there's always hope.

If not a revival, at least let it be a reunion!
