Better Call Saul's Star Spills Harsh Truth After Learning Tom Cruise's Views On Strike

As with any political movement, not all writers and actors agreed with the decision to go on strike. Although the number of votes in favor of the strikes was overwhelmingly higher than the number of votes against, some of the celebrities have already made sure to state their positions and even try to negotiate with the union.

Tom Cruise, who is a huge fan of cinema culture and who has been very outspoken about the importance of supporting theatres after COVID, tried to get SAG AFTRA to give up the ability of actors to promote their upcoming films. That way, the actor said, theaters wouldn't have to deal with the drop in sales they're facing today.

The union hasn't agreed to soften its policy. In fact, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise's proposal was met with a rather unpleasant reaction that showed how out of place it was in the first place.

Bob Odenkirk, star of Better Call Saul, who's joining the picketers on the streets of Los Angeles, was not impressed with the news that such initiatives were being presented to union leaders.

While the actor has clearly made a name for himself in the industry thanks to his great performance as Saul Goodman, he still believes in standing up for everyone else. When asked about other actors who ask for waivers to continue promoting their movies, his answer was to the point:

"Don't! It's a strike. Strike. You lose. We lose. Everybody loses. That's tough sh#t. <...> Sometimes you have to do the hard thing," Odenkirk said to TheWrap journalist covering the strike.

It's no surprise that after Tom Cruise's proposal, which many actors standing in line outside the studios found very insensitive, no one expects the actor to join them anytime soon. With or without the A-lister's support, the strike continues.
