Best Teachers on Abbott Elementary, Ranked By Fans
It's almost like picking your favorite Hogwarts professor with a dash of The Office thrown in.
Abbott Elementary is a modern take on what would happen if The Office or Parks and Recreation were set in an elementary school. For fans, however, it's not all jokes and wisecracks, as they try to actually rank how well these teachers do their jobs.
In an Abbott Elementary thread on Reddit, fans have created their own lists of their favorite teachers on the show.
It turns out that Barbara and Melissa are often at the top of everyone's list.
The two Abbott Elementary veterans are tough, old-school, and their main weapon is their attitude. However, they do not let that get in the way of their work with children; in fact, Melissa herself summed it up perfectly in the second episode of the first season when she said that she and Barbara care too much to quit in the wake of underfunding and the incompetence of others.
They may be intimidating as coworkers (and as teachers, if you piss them off), but in general, fans seem to be in for some old-school teaching when it comes to these two.
Janine finds herself in the middle of the lists, with fans appreciating her lovely personality but noting that she can be over the top at times. Fans feel she will be a better teacher in the future as she matures.
With Gregory, fans seem to have a problem with his strictness. He is usually ranked lower in fan lists because people feel they would have problems with him as a child. Also, being a teacher may not be the job he wants, and fans suspect that his class feels the same way.
Finally, Jacob finds himself at the bottom of fan lists, but this is due to the fact that the show rarely actually shows him in class. Fans feel he needs more screen time as an actual teacher and not just comedic relief.
No matter who your favorite Abbott Elementary teacher is, you can expect to see more of them when the show returns on February 8. In January, the show was also renewed for a third season.
