However, this hero did not immediately win the hearts of viewers.

Thanks to his complexity, intelligence, and wit, Tyrion Lannister has been considered one of the best characters populating the world of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones. It was his keen intellect that helped him outmaneuver his enemies and navigate the treacherous Westeros, while his ability to strategize and analyze a situation allowed Tyrion to stay one step ahead, making him an invaluable asset to all his allies.

On top of that, many fans of the HBO show were drawn to the character because of his complicated relationship with his family members. Betrayal and heartbreak have always been part of Tyrion's life, but he never went down the spiral of depression or revenge, which made him a more sympathetic character in the eyes of the audience.

However, despite all the former merits, fans note that after the fourth season, Tyrion began to make strange and illogical decisions that were uncharacteristic of his nature. As a result, viewers switched their attention to his brother Jaime, who has gone through a long arc of transformation from a villain to a noble man, which is why many considered him the best hero of the story up until his death in Season 8.

At the beginning, Jaime Lannister, known as the Kingslayer, was introduced as an arrogant and dishonorable character, pushing a child off a tower to keep his incestuous affair with Cersei a secret. However, as the show progressed, Jaime was held hostage by Robb Stark, lost an arm on his journey back to King's Landing with Brienne of Tarth, and slowly began to evolve into a true knight.

He followed Brienne back to Harrenhal, where the soldiers left the woman behind for their amusement. Lannister then went on to save his younger brother Tyrion from a terrible fate and break off the vicious affair with his sister. He traveled to Winterfell to protect the world from the invasion of the dead, knighted Brienne of Tarth, and risked his life in battle with the Night King.

With all of the above, Jaime Lannister's arc proved to be the most compelling for many fans of Game of Thrones. But if you're not so sure, you may want to revisit the beloved series on HBO Max and try to see the character from a different perspective.
